On July 12 & 13, 2008, the Scottish Terrier Association celebrated its 1st German Scottie Weekend.
The properties of the hosting Dog Club Siebengebirge in Königstein proved as a wonderful environment for decorated activity zones and tents.
The program was aiming at Scottie fanciers and owners as well as exhibitors and breeders.
Saturday was packed with fun and play events. Many people and their dogs joined in actively and took home a lot of ideas for activities they can do with their Scottie.
The stands offering Scottie articles on sale and the flee market and auction of Scottie things were very busy.
But the informal get-together, chatting and information sharing was an important element, too. The day finished with a barbecue. The members of the hosting club were very nice and professional hosts there - just like during the whole event.
On Sunday, the traditional Scottie Special will took place. 56 dogs were entered, with pets and show novices repesented very well in Newcomer class.
Mrs. Anne Dauncey from England, who has been in the breed since 1973 under her kennel name “Glenmiar”, served as the judge.
Presentations and parades of top-winning champions and their offspring (including pets), veterans and rescue dogs round up the day.
At the end of the show, the winners were determined with big applause, taking home nice prices (donated by mebers and other Scottie fanciers)
The vast majority of the participants expressed that this format of an annual meeting of Scottie fanciers in Germany was a real good thing and should absolutely be repeated.
